Why they matter
Peatlands accumulate carbon over thousands of years, regulate water across entire catchments and host unique biodiversity. Once degraded, they do not recover on human timescales.
What we are working on
Cardinal is exploring conservation and monitoring opportunities for these ecosystems, combining territorial information, technical assessment and potential financing mechanisms.
Current stage
Opportunity under assessment. Area and applicable methodology will be defined during the assessment; there is currently no approved carbon methodology for this project.
Other projects
Patagonian Grasslands & Ecosystem Management
A project exploring environmental-value mechanisms linked to the management of Patagonian grassland ecosystems.
Biochar & Carbon Removal Opportunities
Developing opportunities linked to biomass, biochar and potential carbon removal.
Landscape Regeneration & Natural Capital
An opportunity to explore restoration, territorial management and the valuation of ecosystem services.
Areas are indicative and subject to confirmation. To date, no project in the portfolio holds a certification or has issued credits.
